Student Leadership Teams

Head Girls

The head girl team are role models for the rest of the girls in school. They are responsible for representing the school at events, taking visitors on tours, collecting team points. They lead their individual teams and motivate them to improve. The qualities expected of a head girl is

School Council

The school council is a group of pupils who act as representatives of their classmates in discussing school issues with the headteacher and staff. Every year 2 pupils per class are elected by their class to represent them and their views. They voice those opinions and have their views taken into account in decisions. Our school council also acts as the main fundraising body in the school.

Eco Team

The Eco Team are our Eco Ambassadors for the school. They develop and take on projects and spread the word around the school about the necessity to be aware of our environment. They work to make Winterbourne Junior Girls’ School a greener environment for everyone.

Digital Leaders

The primary aim of the Digital Leaders is to support pupils using computing technology by trouble shooting problems. Digital leaders are in essence, pupil monitors for computing technology. They are pupils who are curious learners, interested, enthusiastic and have the potential to be role models. Their job is to be advocates for good behaviour with computing technology, and support teachers and pupils wherever possible.

Sports Leaders

Our Sports Leaders are selected from year 5. Firstly, they learn and develop their sport leadership skills through a set of training sessions. They then help to promote physical/ active lifestyles within Winterbourne Junior Girls’ School by organising mini sports festivals and promoting active play times.

Junior Travel Ambassadors

Our JTAs are responsible for promoting active travel, walking, cycling or scooting, and road safety. They help supervise ‘Walk to School Week’ activities and play time scooting sessions.

Pupil Librarians

The Pupil Librarians help the school librarian run the library. They help in the library at set times; they shelve fiction books in A-Z order; they help issue and return resources; they help repair resources and help other students find what they are looking for. Our librarians are
